From test fields to real results: this week, we showed the Lighthouse Farm Academy exactly how we're making sustainable farming work at scale.

In 2023, we became part of the Global Network of Lighthouse farms, an initiative led by Wageningen University and Research (WUR). Lighthouse Farms are places that show, here and now, what the future of farming could look like: farms that deliver food while caring for soil, water, air, biodiversity, and people.

For us, this membership means we get to stand side by side with other pioneers who prove a new way of farming is possible today, not just in the future.

At LoginEKO, that means showing that large-scale, organic, livestock-free, sustainable farming is not only achievable but also financially viable, and that transparency with comprehensive traceability is one of the most important pillars of modern food production.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Lighthouse Farm Academy representatives to our farm.

Their visit marked the next step in our collaboration, as we prepare to host an Academy program at LoginEKO in the future. The Academy brings together different professionals from across the global food system to learn from real-world examples of sustainable farming.

We wanted to give our guests a genuine look at how we farm and the results we’re achieving. Together, we discussed:

  • Crop rotation as a foundation for resilience on our farm.
  • The future of large-scale organic farming — we discussed organic farming yields and how they can compete with conventional methods, demonstrating that large-scale organic farming is not only feasible but capable of yielding results that rival and often surpass conventional systems.
  • Transparency and traceability — why we believe they are among the most powerful drivers of change in the food system.

Our tour took us to one of our sunflower production fields, which will soon be harvested, and on one of our sorghum test fields; a crop we’re testing for its impressive drought tolerance.

Through these conversations, we shaped what the Academy’s Farm Lab will focus on when we host it on our farm in Serbia. We’re looking forward to sharing not only what’s working for us, but also the lessons we’ve learned from challenges along the way.

For us, this visit was about building relationships, sharing our experiences and results so far, and reinforcing our belief that sustainable farming is a global challenge that needs diverse, practical solutions.

We are proud to stand alongside other Lighthouse Farms around the world, and we look forward to welcoming professionals from across the food system to our fields.
